On Tuesday, November 30th at 8:00pm eastern/5:00pm pacific our guest speaker will be Robert Jacobs.  Robert will cover a "Nutritional Management of Young Horses" beginning with discussion on the weaning process and continuing through the developmental years of the young sporthorse.

Robert currently is the Equine Innovation Manager at Purina.  Prior to his work at the Purina Animal Nutrition Center, he worked as a graduate teaching and research assistant in the Department of Animal and Poultry Sciences, at Virginia Tech.

Jacobs’ research expertise and interests include:

·         Equine reproductive physiology

·         Effects of nutrition on equine reproduction and growth

·         Omega-3 fatty acids

Jacobs did his bachelors and Masters at the University of Florida. His masters research focused on uterine blood flow and fluid clearance during the estrus in mares.   He earned his Ph.D. in animal science from Virginia Tech. His dissertation focused on omega 3 supplementation in obese metabolically compromised mares, and the impact on endometrial and conceptus gene expression.
